I came to Nepal expecting a trek. What I got was a complete reset of my internal compass.
Day 1–3: Lukla to Namche Bazaar
The flight to Lukla alone is an experience — a tiny airstrip carved into a mountainside. From there, the trail winds through pine forests and across swaying suspension bridges. Namche Bazaar hit me like a Himalayan marketplace from another century. Our guide, Pasang, seemed to know every teahouse owner by name.
Day 4–7: Acclimatization & the Khumbu
We climbed to Tengboche Monastery where monks chanted at dawn. The sound echoing through the valley with Ama Dablam towering behind — that image will never leave me. The acclimatization day gave us time to absorb the silence that exists only above 4,000 meters.
Day 8–10: Gorak Shep & Base Camp
The final push to Everest Base Camp was brutal in the best way. Thin air, heavy legs, but the spirit was electric. Standing at 5,364m surrounded by the Khumbu Icefall and knowing that the summit pyramid was just above the clouds — I wept. Unashamed, full tears.
The Return & Reflection
The descent was bittersweet. Every village felt like saying goodbye to a friend. Back in Kathmandu, the city felt surreal after 10 days of mountain silence. I booked my next trek with Visualize Nepal before I even left the country.
Photos from the trip
“This wasn't a holiday. It was the most meaningful 13 days of my life. The guides felt like family, the logistics were flawless, and the mountains... the mountains spoke.”
